Robotic Suitcases?

At CES 2019 ForwardX robotics revealed their Ovis suitcase which is a robootic suitcase that will follow you around throughout the airport. The suitcase utilized similar technology to autonomous vehicles to navigate through airport terminals and more. When in a place where the user does not need to move they can place a hand on the handle to switch the suitcase to manual mode.

After CES 2018 ForwardX raised alost 1.5 million dollars for the Ovis suitcase and throughout 2018 they added many new features such as sideways drive a GPS tracking mode and the manual mode.

In the press release for the Ovis Nicholas Chee the CEO of ForwardX robotics states “Most robots today are programmed to do a single task. Our AI-enabled robots can perform several different functions with very limited help from humans, similar to self-driving vehicles, we see that as the next true breakthrough in robotic technology.”

I agree with Nicholas when he says that this is a breakthrough in robotics technology. The capabilities of the Ovis are hopefully just the start for diverse robots with many capabilities.
