Researchers have given bipedal robots the ability to balance their bodies in the same way that humans do. People are naturally capable of walking through cramped areas without much effort.
Researchers from The University of Texas decided to give that capability to robots. Luis Sentis and students from the school’s Human Centered Robotics Laboratory developed a brand-new means of bringing a human sense of balance to a bipedal robot. Named Hermes after the swift messenger god of the ancient Greeks.
They believe their new method can be used to improve walking robots that are now being tested. Some of the usability includes Military units and search-and-rescue machines.
This Technology provides a new approach to the creation of bipedal robots. Doing this provides a new branch of technology and engineering to explore due to the versatility of bipedal machines.
